20th Academy Awards
Today in 1948 the Academy Awards were handed out for the best in film for 1947. The Best Picture of the Year went to Gentleman's Agreement, which also garnered Elia Kazan the Best Director Oscar. Celeste Holm won Best Supporting Actress, Loretta Young Best Actress. Ronald Coleman won Best Actor and Edmund Gwenn Best Supporting Actor.
Best Original Song went to Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah from Song of the South.
