Earl Campbell made a huge splash in the NFL in 1978 and he was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and NFL MVP.
The 1977 Heisman Trophy winner as college football's best player kept it rolling in his debut season with the Houston Oilers.
This would the first of 2 consecutive Shick Award as the
Pro Football Writer's Association MVP.
