Top 10 Movies of 1966

 So I havent been on here in a long time but I felt like getting back to trying to blog on a somewhat regular basis.


Let's start with the Top 10 biggest money making movies of 1966 : 


The 1966 film version of James Michener's monster best-selling novel of 1959 received mixed reviews but did get seven Academy Award nominations, including Jocelyne LaGarde for Best Supporting Actress.   



The soundtrack did have one Oscar nominated song with "My Wishing Doll" with music by Elmer Bernstein and Lyrics be Mack David.

38th Academy Awards

Today in 1966 the 38th annual Academy Awards ceremony was held at the Santa Monica Civic Center with Bob Hope handling the hosting duties and broadcast by ABC television. It was honoring the films of 1965.
The Best Picture winner was "The Sound of Music" with Robert Wise, the producer and director won the Best Director award, however it shared the big winner of the night title with the highly acclaimed "Dr Zhivago", both winning 5 awards on 10 nominations each.
There were 2 Julie's battling it out for Best Actress with with Julie Christie winning for her role in "Darling". and Julie Andrews, who won the award in 1965, settled for best picture.
