Dan Blocker (Hoss Cartwright)

The world lost one its gentle giants in Dan Blocker, known to the world as Hoss Cartwright, died suddenly after gall bladder surgery.

An tremendously kind man, Dan would endear himself to millions over multiple generations in Bonanza, seen in reruns 40 years after his untimely passing.

He was is only the 2nd Warriors player to win the NBA MVP trophy and 1st since Wilt Chamberlain in 1960 when they were still the Philadelphia Warriors.

He has already become the Warriors all time leader in 3-point field goals made (1070) and 3-point field goal attempts (1577).  Along with new headcoach Steve Kerry the Warriors had the best record in the NBA for 2014-15 with a 67-15 record and winners of the Pacific division by 11 games over the Los Angeles Clippers.

After being bluffed into fleeing Dodge City, 3 con men take Doc hostage as they run from Marshall Dillon.
The TV version of this episode has Joseph Kearns, legendary radio actor, as Mr. Papp the banker in charge.  Joe Kearns voice such characters as Ed the vault guard on the Jack Benny Show and The Man in Black narrator on the early seasons of Suspense.  He went on to be remembered by the TV generation as Mr. Wilson on Dennis the Menace.
In an ironic twist one of the con men taking the banker for money was Raymond Bailey, better known to TV audiences as Mr. Drysdale the banker on The Beverly Hillbillies.
