Challenger 01/28/1986

Today is the 25th anniversary of the space shuttle Challenger disaster. The Shuttle exploded during its flight and killing all 7 astronauts on board.
A personal note on this day. I was in my first and only year of college at Indiana University at Kokomo and had just got home from my class that day and was sitting at the kitchen table doing homework listening to the radio. I had on WFBQ as usual and listening to some music when on air DJ Jay Baker came said there was an accident during the lift off of the space shuttle in florida and if you could get to a tv everyone needed to tune in and watch. I did of course, but I had missed the accident live but watch endless replays and spent the next several hours watching in sadness as we lost 7 brave human beings doing what they love and wanted to do, travel to the heavens.

That night I along with millions of others watch President Ronald Reagan give one of the greatest, comforting speeches (or thoughts) on this disaster that will be remember for as long as people remember him and this sad day.

The Bestselling Christian Books of 2010

Here is the top selling Christian Book of 2010:

Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to "listen" to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her. It was awkward at first, but gradually her journaling changed from monologue to dialogue. She knew her writings were not inspired as Scripture is, but they were helping her grow closer to God. Others were blessed as she shared her writings, until people all over the world were using her messages. They are written from Jesus’ point of view, thus the title Jesus Calling. It is Sarah’s fervent prayer that our Savior may bless you with His presence and His peace in ever deeper measure.

Fibber McGee and Molly on TV

I am big fan of Fibber McGee and Molly the classic old time radio show that ran on NBC radio from 1935 until 1959.
With the demise of radio in the late 1950s, NBC wanted to move it to television for the 1959-60 season but the original Fibber and Molly(Jim and Marion Jordan) were very reluctant to make the jump so NBC which owned the show by now recast the roles.
With the failing health of Marion Jordan the tv show wasnt really an option for them, but without them the flavor of the radio version was really lost and the new Fibber and Molly didn't gain any traction with television audiences. The show was canceled by the end of January 1960.

Today would have been the 76th birthday of the King of Rock N Roll Elvis Presley.

It is also the birthday of the most wonderful woman in my life, my beautiful wife Michelle!

I knew I had the perfect wife when I suggested going to Memphis and Graceland for our honeymoon and she was all for it!
We had a great time and have been back with our girls and its still a wonderful trip and a great place to visit.

Here is her favorite Elvis song.
