This week's OTR show is the legendary "Dragnet" starring and created by Jack Webb.

This went on to become and radio staple in the last decade of OTR and with a move to television shortly after debuting on radio it became the blueprint for all "police procedural" shows that came after.

Dragnet premiered on June 3rd 1949 on NBC radio starring Jack Webb and Sgt Joe Friday and ran until February 26th 1957.   Reruns were broadcast from the end of September 1955 to February 1957.

Today our blast from the past is "Dragnet" starring Jack Webb as his famous "Joe Friday" character that he developed/created on radio and moved to television.

Playing on radio starting in 1949 lasting until 1957 before being solely on television.  "Dragnet" started on television in 1952 and was a staple until 1959.  Jack Webb revived he tv series in 1967 and ran until 1970 and all 3 versions were carried by NBC.

Harry Morgan April 15 1915-December 7 2011

Today we lost another link to television's great past with the passing of Harry Morgan.   He was 96 and left a long legacy of great roles in movies and television.   Most notably, he played Col. Sherman T Potter of the MASH 4077 from 1975-1983.   He was brilliantly cast as Col. Potter, the fatherly old soldier with a great sense of humor.  He could enforce the military's rules and still make you laugh and feel like he was doing it for your own good.
