Today in 1995 Burl Ives died at the age of 85. Known as the Great American Balladeer he was also a great actor and won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1958 for his role in "The Big Country" as Rufus Hannassey.
His biggest success in mainstream music was with his hit song "Little Bitty Tear", from 1962 which peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the Hot Country Chart.
