Benjamin Harrison Home

Another family outing to see a Presidential home and museum today. This time it was too Indianapolis and the home of President Benjamin Harrison.
It is located downtown on Delaware Ave just off of I-65. It was a great trip and a quiet day and it was just our family on the tour so we got to take our time and ask a lot of questions (at least I did).
this first picture is the house from Delaware Street.

I didnt get any pictures from inside because as normal with these homes they dont allow flash photography and I wasnt sure how much light I would have but then again I totally forgot to take any because of all the looking and questions I had.
Here are various signs from around the outside of the home.

I took some more pictures from outside the house and you can see the different areas around the house and from the back and a picture from inside the carriage house.

President's Day

After spending the afternoon touring the home of President Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis I was in a presidential mood and found this video.

this fits right into my fascination with graves and death and Presidents. I know its strange but it very interesting to watch.
I will have pictures of the day posted soon with some very interesting information.

Your #1 Song of the Week (2 versions)

27 years ago this week Joan Jett topped the Billboard Hot 100 with one of if not the greatest rock anthem of all time "I Love Rock N Roll". Here is the video that we all know and love

and now lets look at the original video...Joan decided against this video because she didnt like the look of her red leather outfit...I disagree it all looks good on her

Goalies Gone Wild

You gotta love the nuts that play goalie in hockey. This video makes it clear that they can really lose their minds sometimes.

Update

I have been sick as a dog for the last week so thats why you havent heard much from me here. I will be posting again shortly.

Speaking of Hockey

I was looking in my old scrapbooks from when I had season tickets to watch the Indianapolis Ice play in the IHL and found this article from one of the best games in 1994 and I was sitting next to my good buddy Rusty. The Ice played the Milwaukee Admirals on a Wed night so it was a smaller than normal crowd and this was one of the best years they had while I was going to the games. The goalie for Milwaukee was Mark Laforest and the Ice lit him up for 9 goals and after the 8th one he charged Mark Prokopec for some reason proceeded to pummel him and in the process racked up 3 penalties in the last 10 mins of the game. It was a glorious meltdown to watch. Well of course the players all jumped in and our goalie on that night was of all people Andre "Red light" Racicot who was subbing for Christian Soucy who was ill and got sicker when they announced that Jimmy Waite, the former Turner Cup winning goalie for the ICE was returning to the team the next day.

I hope you can see this article, you may have to click on it to see it better. The game also saw winger Jimmy Black get his first hat trick of the season.

Bloomington IL roadtrip

Yesterday Doug and myself went to see a hockey game, the Bloomington Prairiethunder vs Fortwayne Komets in Bloomington IL. We had a great trip and the game was fun and quite a bit of action. The arena in Bloomington is small but is great for hockey, everyone is close to the action and really not a bad seat in the house. Kind of reminds me of the arena in Kalamazoo Michigan. We have had some great trips to go watch our Ice play the Wings and may have to go next year to see a game even without a team to follow.
I have posted some pictures from the game. As you can see it was a sparse crowd. I believe the Illinois State basketball teams play here too so that is why they have the state of the art scoreboard. Overall a great experience and a great time.

#1 song of the Day -- Double Shot!

First up is The Beatles from April 1970, actually the album Let It Be was recorded in 1969 before Abbey Road but then shelved because the group wasnt happy with the sound. It was completely remixed and edited by Phil Spector before its release in 1970 as the last album for the Beatles. In 2003 the surviving Beatles gave their approval to have the album remixed in their original version, George ok'd it shortly before his untimely death. The one song Paul felt was ruined by Phil Spector's Wall of sound style of producing was "The Long and Winding Road". I have this album and its not that big of a difference until you get to the aforementioned song. I enjoyed it and still enjoy the original too.
Now here is the #1 song from May 23rd 1970 the last #1 song for the Beatles...The Long and Winding Road. This is the verison used on the LET IT BE...NAKED album

Ok so we had the last #1 song for the Beatles, how about the to date, last #1 song for the Rolling Stones, the only Beatles contemporary to keep going pretty much intact since the 1960s.
Here from August 1978 "Miss You"

True Crime

I was on Find A Grave and checking out the died on this date section and to make a long story short I found a grave of this little boy and it was such a tragic story I just had to pass it along.
http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/family/crimmins/1.html
Let me know what you think. I am truly fascinated by this kind of thing, I get it from my father who would have me get him 2 or 3 true crime books from the library almost every week and he would finish them in one night. So I picked up the habit of reading the true crime stories from him.
