Casey Kasem 1932-2014

Casey was very influential to me as a teenager and I went into radio (for a short time) because I wanted to do a show like American Top 40.  Life got in the way but I still listened and still want to be Casey and thanks to internet he will always be with us.

Bonanza - Season 6 (1964-65)

Bonanza, the classic family western aired on NBC from 1959 to 1973 and spent its 6th, 7th and 8th seasons as the #1 show on network prime time television.
Starring Lorne Greene and patriarch Ben Cartwright with 3 grown sons - Adam, Hoss (Eric) and Little Joe. 
They ran the largest ranch in the Nevada territory, The Ponderosa.

Old Time Radio Show of the Week

This week, we go back to June 14th 1950 for the final performance of Harold Peary as The Great Gildersleeve.   
Harold played Gildy for 13 years on radio, starting on "The Johnson Wax Program starring Fibber McGee and Molly" in 1939 as Throckmorton Gildersleeve 
In 1941 Gildy was "spun off" to his own show, Harold Peary stayed as Gildersleeve until 1950.  He left after the 1949-50 season and was replaced by soundalike Willard Waterman who finished with the radio version in 1957.  Waterman also played Gildersleeve on 39 episodes of the television version for NBC in 1955.
